Good product, affordable, no bells and whistles though... Dec 31, 2009
By Joseph Brown

I have a 40lb. xvest and wanted to get a weight vest that could handle more weight. The price was right for the 80lb. ZFO, much cheaper than the heavier xvest. The ZFO was delivered an astonishing two days after I ordered it.
As to the details, the ZFO vest is very similar in design to the xvest, a padded clam-shell design, in this case the weights are not 1-lb. iron rods as in the xvest, they are 4-lb. tightly packed bars of sand (in completely enclosed sleeves) that can be slipped into the many pockets on the back and front (two rows on each side) of the vest. So there are twenty of these bars and twenty pockets. Each row has a flap that you velcro fasten over the pockets and there are two straps with connectors and velcro that you use to secure the vest to your body. You can adjust the length of the straps to get the fit you want. The fabric of the vest is thick and strong (again, similar to the xvest) and the quality is good.
I'm happy with the purchase, but a complaint...the two boxes the ZFO come in had no instructions (and there are none on the website) for how you put the vest together, no suggestions as to how to use it (the xvest website is very helpful for suggestions as to the safe, proper use of a weight vest), and no suggestions for maintenance and cleaning!
This didn't bother me as I was already pretty knowledge from having used the xvest. Still, what would it hurt to give the buyer a little guidance? Shame!

Good Weighted Vest at a Better Price Aug 26, 2010
By CJ Moy

This was my first experience buying a weighted vest for running and body weight exercises. It is fairly comfortable and adaptable. There are a couple of problems which other people have already noted, mainly that the vest comes with no instructions (they are on the website, but I think a short video would be more helpful as the instructions are not written clearly). The belt system is a little hard to use when using the entire 80lb load. Other than that, I thought it was a great buy. You cannot buy a vest in this weight class within this price range. Trust me, I've looked.

excellent Jan 02, 2010
By SW I am totally pleased with this weighted vest. I love how you could remove the weights to customize it for your particular workout. The vest is well constructed and is exactly what I was looking for. The vest is easy to use, very comfortable for my size and you get a great core workout with whatever you do with it. Excellent for plyometrics, a must have for power athletes. I expect great weight loss results with this vest.

Fantastic work out aid Jan 24, 2011
By JonathanE I can't rave enough about this product. The price was absolutely accurate. It's as comfortable as it can possibly be. And it's a fantastic work out aid, ESPECIALLY for those serving in infantry units in the military or prospective infantry military enlistees who are going to be hauling a lot of gear on their backs. The only drawback is that it's a bit confusing to initially put together and the instructions don't help much. Aside from that, it's a great product.
I would definitely caution you start using this vest in weighted increments unless you're already used to carrying a lot of gear, it's going to be hard on your back until you get used to it.
I do have one complaint, and I'm sure that this isn't a universal problem -- it's probably just unique to my vest in specific. But when I first got it, this thing smelled god awfully. I'm not even sure what the smell was. Maybe somewhere in between rotting meat and bad milk. I have no idea how it became this way as there was nothing spilled on either it or the box. I disinfected it as best I could and after a few months of working out with it it's not as noticeable. But it still smells a little. What the heck? Gross.
But anyway, as long as your vest doesn't smell like mine does, you'll end up with a great product.

Good quality, but... Jun 27, 2010
By Ironblayde I bought one of these from the manufacturer's website about three months ago, and have been using it three times a week for body weight exercises like push-ups, inverted rows, etc. It's been a very handy thing to have, and it seems very durable. As others have said, it doesn't come with any kind of documentation, but really, there's not much to it. It does what it needs to do; I've got no complaints there.
One caution: I sent a question to the manufacturer via e-mail using the contact form on their website, and never received so much as an acknowledgement, much less an answer. I don't know whether the form is broken or they simply ignored my message. Either way, that could have been very frustrating had there been some kind of problem with my order.
