Serves It's purpose Feb 14, 2010 My first complaint is the Rubber material that the ball is composed of has an awful odor, almost like fumes. Also other reviewers stated that the ball was easy to hold onto and that is not the case. Maybe if you have large hands. Better off using leather workout gloves to get a better grip.Cannot use it for certain exercises as instructed in some videos. Mainly holding the ball in between ankles because the ball is to hard. Better off researching the product by the exercise platform you want to follow and whether or not the soft or hard medicine ball will accomodate your needs. The soft ball was an option online, but I had originally purchased it in the store and twice their enclosed video did not work and they gave me a difficult time about returning them. I do use it because it serves it's purpose but in the future I would research the product thorougly to insure that it meets all my expectations or just go through the trouble of returning it when not completely satisfied.
solid piece of equipment Dec 29, 2009 I put a client on a medicine ball routine to help him get started. 8 lb ball was a good size for him to begin with. If someone is intermediate to advanced, you need to go with a heavier ball. I used the 12 lb ball myself and it still wasn't heavy enough. He'll grow into the 12 lb quickly (within a month) if he keeps working at it. You should buy 8, 12, 20 and 25 pounders if you want to be able to grow with this type of equipment. Make sure you have room to store them as they are awkward if you don't have a stand.
valeo 8 and 10 pound medicine ball Dec 08, 2009 great medicine ball great price. My ab work out requires me to bounce the ball as hard as i can against the side walk and wall. So far so good ball holding up.
Great Value. Tough Ball with a Really Thick Skin/Shell Nov 02, 2009 For the price, this ball is a trememdous value. I checked out balls at Sports Authority -- the ones with comparable prices to this have a much thinner skin, and I can tell why another reviewer of the ball that I saw in SAuthority would write that it'd burst if you tried throwing it against a wall. If you poke it with your fingers, you can tell that it's pretty thin, but with a heavy weight inside.... Not the same as the Valeo.
The Valeo Ball's outer wall/skin is Very Very thick and comparable to the much much more expensive Nike Balls (also high quality) you would find in Sports Authority. You can't even poke into it, it's so thick.
Good Product Apr 12, 2009 I would recommend this product to anyone who is training clients and wants a more economic medicine ball. Or to anyone who does not care if the med ball they use looks "cool" or trendy. These look good and have a good feel and work well for the price.
I like that there are no little bumpy gripers on the ball. I have worked with other balls that have friction for grip. These tend to hurt the hands when you catch them.
I am taking these outdoors for bootcamp and they will be getting dirty. I intend for them to hold up but this is the first time buying these. I will review back if they do not hold up to the outdoor environment.
