Unacceptable [Fathead] Return Policy Dec 11, 2009
By Jabootee Fathead changes prices by design on a frequent, if not daily/weekly basis. We purchased three (3)late one evening and next morning received an email for a sale where the three were now $45 less. You cannot cancel an order using the website and the Call Center is not open 24 hours. It was unacceptable to be told with pride (when I eventually did get through to their Call Center), that unless I cancel an order within 2 HOURS after placing it, it's "in the system" and can't be stopped. Many cases, it will be impossible to contact Fathead within 2 hours (by design) if you order online, when they are closed. This noted, the insult was when I learned they would not credit my card for the discounted price, even though my order had not left their factory yet. Fathead "customer service" said: "If we credited for price adjustments, we would be making credits everyday". My reply: So?? I don't think that was a scripted response, so Fathead may not feel comfortable with it's use, as it demonstrates their prices are likely to adjust daily. I won't buy when I can't trust price won't changing the NEXT day with no recourse besides the following run around and expense. Fathead said: "I must accept delivery (when they eventually ship it, still in factory) and then use a return code and ship it BACK (at MY expense) to take advantage of the lower price, by ordering from them AGAIN. Their return/credit policy is designed to frustrate you or take advantage of your busy schedule. Far too often, people intend to send the item back (in my case for a $45 credit) but don't find time or energy. I'm going to buck their system and be sure to send mine back, but I'm NOT purchasing replacements at the lower cost. Their policy has NOT saved them a credit, it has cost them the value of having to replace me as a customer and loss of the ENTIRE sale. If enough people complained and broadcast this policy when they experience it, Fathead might find they have to change it and allow for "price protection". Until then, buyer beware. If you find you overpaid based on Fathead adjusted prices the very NEXT day with a different sale...it's NOT going to be easy to deal with Fathead (no simple credit), but that's not an accident in my opinion. The most frustrating thing is you can't trust the price, which wrecks (this) buyers confidence in Fathead and I've purchased three others over the years. No more.
