 Not much better than regular scrabble Oct 07, 2009

I bought it as a gift for my husband who is a huge Yankees fan-so anything that says Yankees he likes. We really like regular scrabble so I thought this would be even better since it combined his favorite team with something we have fun doing. The rules of this game are slightly different so you really have to read the rule book before you play, it's ok for a change but makes it somewhat confusing. There is also a list of special words like "Jeter" or "Yankees" that give you a very large amount of bonus points. However this is bad since if you don't get one of those words you probably won't win-so basically I was reading over the list each time to see if I had those words, and once I figured out I didn't have one of the special words I had to spend more time trying to figure out another word to place. I didn't like that it was a cardboard board versus regular scrabble that is usually a plastic carrying case-which is much more durable and portable. In Yankee Scrabble the letters are placed on the board and there is no way for them to stay attached(like regular scrabble boards)-so if you accidently hit the board you have a problem. The actual letters are nice plastic and well printed so I wish they had put as much effort into making the board plastic. The cardboard board was brightly printed, it used a legend to signify extra point values for using spaces marked with baseball bats,etc (instead of just saying triple word score,etc)-which makes it more fun for baseball fans and just more trouble for those who are used to regular scrabble. Overall it was fun, yet the next times we have played scrabble we ended up using our old scrabble game and not this one.

bought item and immediately wanted to cancel it. company does not allow that, even though it was not shipped yet. all i could do was send it back for a refund. i sent it back the day i recieved it which was a couple days after i bought it. i have yet to recieve the refund. i am not happy.
