Great coaching tool Apr 25, 2007
By gwaihir I had seen this product a while before I bought it, and wanted it but it seemed like too much of a want and not a need. When it went on sale I went ahead and sprung for it and I am very glad I did.
I coach two recreational soccer teams, a U12 and a U8, and this bench is great for both of them. In recreational soccer where kids are playing to be kids and have fun, balancing playing time fairly is very important, but sometimes hard to do when kids disappear down the sideline to sit with their parents. This bench keeps the teams organized and helps ensure I get the most deserving players back in the game.
That's the part I expected, but there are some other things about it I didn't expect that I am very happy with too.
It folds up quite compact, more so than I expected, and is very light to carry with the sturdy shoulder strap. It is so easy to set up my six year-olds do it no problem. It is not especially comfortable, but what bench is.
The biggest surprise to me was the teams' reactions. I thought they would not like it, seeing it as a ploy by me to control them. Quite the contrary, as soon as I put up the bench on the sideline the players were eager to sit on it and both ages think it's cool. They have all seen professional athletes on a bench on the sideline, and having this makes them feel more like the professionals.
So after all I feel like it was a worthy investment, and it really has helped manage the sidelines during matches. It's funny how little things like uniforms and a "real" bench on the sideline seem unimportant to us but can mean so much to these little guys.
The qualifier is, I think if I only coached one team I wouldn't feel like it was worth the investment. But with two teams and a younger son who is three and likely to start soccer soon--the cost-benefit ratio looks a lot better.

Must have for sports team Mar 09, 2007
By Judy B This bench is a must have for outdoor sports. This is the second instabench we have bought as the other one wore out. It is sturdy and can comfortably fit a coach along with many players on this bench. The bench itself is a little heavy and bulky but portable enough to throw into the car and go. The frame is made well. There were only two issues that I had with the bench. The first is that the plastic material on the bottom of the seat separated from the top seating material. Second is the carrying case ripped after a few months of carrying it back and forth to the fields. The top sides ripped along with where the shoulder strap meets the material on the bag. therefore the rate of 4 stars

Great Product Jun 26, 2006
By Soccer Coach This is a very good product. I coach a traveling soccer team and they love it. Everyone asks where I got it. It is so much better than sitting on a mat or the grass, especially when it is raining. And it's so easy to bring along.

Insta-Bench 6 seater Oct 17, 2005
Great hit with the soccer team. Kids can easily sit on the sidelines and be in close proximity with the coach. It will prove even a better investment on muddy fields. Any soccer mom can carry this item. Makes a great coach gift!

BUYER BEWARE!! Aug 27, 2007
By S. J. Steiner Purchased this bench on 8-13-07. We just used it for the first time (U11 Girls) and the water proof lining is already starting to seperate underneath the seats!! The company is a pain to work with in sending it back. There must be better benches out there somewhere!! ABSOLUTE JUNK!!
