Good product, but buttons sometimes stick or go twice Mar 28, 2008
By tall-latte This product does the job and makes scorekeeping easier. I only give it 4 stars since the buttons occasionally stick or sometimes get logged twice. Fortunately, there is a beep that provides feedback, so at least this is easy to catch, when it happens.
Not reliable Apr 15, 2012

Balls and strikes tally has been consistently less than the pitch count total. I'm constantly glancing at the pitch count, so I know that's accurate and verified by the opposing coach, however the balls and strikes tally never adds up to the total, so who the hell knows. Buttons are also a little too hard to push. I'm switching back to mechanical.
Pitch Counter Jan 18, 2012
By nurse10 Coach Dave's Pitch Count Model 300 was everything I hoped it would be! My son is a baseball coach in Idaho and I wanted to buy him something for Christmas that I knew he would like. He was totally satisfied with it and then so was I!
skip this, go mechanical Jul 20, 2011
By microe I purchased this product for this last season of baseball. This product gave me and my other coaches nothing but trouble. The buttons would stick and not record or double record a pitch. The device was not consistent about clearing the count. The only button that was consistent was the A/B button. On top of all of this, the battery low indicator came on. I went to replace the battery and found I had to remove several screws just to get the back off. Then I had to remove another screw to release the battery. Very inconvenient. After the new battery the counter last about a week before it quit altogether.
Save yourself the bother and get a mechanical pitch counter.
Not perfect...but not bad. Spend for the better model? Apr 24, 2011

First I bought a Robic-type counter, broke it, got another and soon broke that. Tried taking it apart to fix it, and there's dozens of tiny plastic pieces. It's like a Rube Goldberg machine inside! Lesson learned. Then I upgraded to this model two years ago, and it's much tougher. I throw it in my baseball bag and forget about it. It's been tossed about, lightly rained on, and (accidentally) bounced off fences. I've used it enough for it to need a new battery, which is easily replaceable. (Battery #CR2032 for those planning ahead.) Plus it keeps track of balls and strikes separately rather than just total pitches which is a big bonus and worth the extra dough over a plain counter. Every baseball coach on every level should be tracking strike percentage. However, the readout only reads total pitches, and to get to the balls and strikes tally you must press and hold down on a button - and that's where the trouble is. As others have said, the buttons stick and skip enough to make this simple task maddening. When I'm coaching a game and deciding how effective my pitcher has been, and I'm spending several pitches just trying to manipulate the buttons, I'm left wishing for more. The 400-level pitch counter appears to break down the ball and strike count on screen. It is about twice as many clams, so for now I'll deal with what I have, but I say spend the extra for the luxury of avoiding the dreaded buttons and get the 400. Coach Dave's Pitch Count Professional Model 400.
